Hello, it’s me again after another day of going canoeing

This time it was at Lake Taupo. The water was beautiful, and the weather was really nice. My brother, John, went with me, and (surprise, surprise) he didn’t hate it! You know, he really doesn’t like doing anything kind of exercise at all. He loves playing sports, but only on a computer. I can’t understand why he likes playing computer games so much. It just sounds really boring to me.

Anyways, we went early in the morning and saw a lot of birds and fish there. The fish weren’t afraid of us and came up right up to the canoe. We got really close to a pair of birds, and I took some really nice photos of them.

After hanging out on the lake, we headed back and had breakfast with the other guests at the hotel. John went back to the room to play computer games. I met a girl who was really nice and friendly. She asked me to go running in the forest by the lake after that afternoon. I usually hate going running, but I didn’t have any other plans, so I went with her. Have you ever heard of marble collecting? In the 1990s, almost every child loved marbles. My dad had a big collection when he was young. But hardly anyone enjoys collecting marbles now. Most people think it’s boring, but I don’t think so. I love collecting and playing with my marbles.

Marbles are pretty cheap and usually cost 20 or 30 cents each. Some are are more expensive. I used to ask my dad for money to buy the rarer one, and he wasn’t too happy about that. But now that I have a part – time job, I’ve started saving money. Every Saturday, before I go to my swimming practice, I like to stop by the toy store to see if they have any new marbles. I have so many marbles that I don’t know how many I have exactly. I think it must be over a thousand!

My little brother also likes playing with marbles. He isn’t as good as I am, but I like to let him win sometimes. He’s so happy when he wins marbles from me. Playing with marbles is so fun!

Music clubs

A.   Ching – A – Ling.com This is an online club where people can upload and share videos of their own musical performances. You can connect with teachers from all over the world who can give you tips and advice on how to improve. Regular membership costs $14.99 a month.

B.   Good Vibes Replaying the old tunes, The Good Vibes club is famous for its weekly music quiz, held every Wednesday evening. You can win prizes and have lots of fun. Plus, it’s free to enter! Perfect for music experts!

C.   Beats and Bass This club started in 1999 and is run by the school music teacher. Here, students can learn how to play all kinds of instruments, such as piano, violin, guitar, and drums. You don’t have to bring your own instrument because   the club has ones you can borrow, Beats and Bass organizes regular events in the town and competes with other high schools. It won two awards last year.

D.   Star Academy A club for serious musicians only. Many students of Star Academy have go on to play in famous bands and orchestras around the world. If you pass the entrance exam, you can take part in classes held five nights in a week. It’s not cheap, but it’s the best way to start a career in music.

Ann is 16 and is really on playing classical music. She dreams of becoming a professional pianist one day.

Vicky doesn’t play an instrument but she loves all kind of music. She knows so much about famous singers and bands, so her friends always ask her for recommendations. She spends all her money on new music and concert tickets.

Cindy is learning how to play the violin. She cannot afford one right now, but she’s saving up. She likes watching violin tutorials on the internet.
