II. ĐIỂM NGỮ PHÁP (LANGUAGE FOCUS):

1. Ordering adjectives:

- We put adjectives in the order of size, age, color in our sentences. (Chúng ta đặt tính từ theo thứ tự kích thước, tuổi tác, màu sắc trong câu của chúng ta)

Mine is a small new yellow backpack.

2. Possessive Pronouns:

- We use possessive pronouns (mine, yours, his, hers, ours, their) to talk about what we own and what belongs to us. (Chúng ta sử dụng các đại từ sở hữu – mine, yours, his, hers, ours, theirs) để nói về những gì chúng ta sở hữu và những gì thuộc về chúng ta.)

- We can use them instead of a possessive adjective + noun (when it’s clear what we’re talking about) Chúng ta có thể sủ dụng them thay vì một tính từ sở hữu + danh từ (khi nó rõ ràng những gì chúng ta đang nói về)

Is that blue backpack yours?

My bag pack is red. ->Mine is red.

Whose passports are these?

They’re our passports. ->They’re ours.

Is this her backpack?

No, her backpack is dark brown.

->No, hers is dark brown.

 I woke up early. I missed the bus.

E.g: I woke up early. However, I missed the bus.

        Although I woke up early, I missed the bus.

We often use “however” and “although” when we write, but not when speaking with friends. Using conjunctions when we write helps the readers understand our ideas easily. (Chúng ta thường sử dụng “however” và “although” khi chúng ta viết, những không phải khi nói chuyện với bạn bè. Sử dụng các liên từ khi chúng ta viết giúp người đọc hiểu ý của chúng ta một cách dễ dàng.)

3. “(not) as … as…”

- We can compare things using not as … as … if they are different or as … as … if they are the same.

The subway is as fast as the train.

The bus isn’t as convenient as the subway.

Trains are as comfortable as taxis.

Train tickets aren’t as expensive as plane tickets.

Exercise 4: Reading – The Wowscoot:

I believe the Wowscoot is the best transportation for kids in my city. The Wowscoot is the most convenient way to ride around any city. It is easy to carry because I can fold it and put it in my backpack. The best part of the Wowscoot is the electronic map. To go to different places, I just need to tell it the address and it knows the way. Kids won’t have to worry about getting lost ever again. They can just enjoy the ride. All the other kids in my city need to have a wowscoot.
